New paper on connectivity metrics and protected areas

Percentage of area protected can substitute for more complicated structural metrics when monitoring protected area connectivity.

This December, our work with Dr. Amy Frazier and Dr. Peter Kedron on comparing structural connectivity metrics for monitoring protected areas got published in Ecological Indicators (open access). The paper is titled 'Percentage of area protected can substitute for more complicated structural metrics when monitoring protected area connectivity'. As our title suggests, we find that the percentage of area protected can be a viable proxy for many more complicated structural connectivity metrics in global target reporting, creating easier pathways for monitoring.
In addition to a typology of metric components, we compiled and included equations and information on how to interpret metrics in the appendix.
